Why should I be investing?

  • You may have noticed that almost all banks charge negative interest rates. In other words, certain banks charge you penalty interests starting with the 1st franc you deposit into an account. This means that you lose money on your account. We are in a phase of low interest rates since the 1990s. Interest rates have been dropping for years. Nearly anything is better than keeping money in a savings account.
  • However, even bonds or promissory bills to companies hardly yield any interest anymore.
  • Therefore, there are almost no alternatives to shares. These are company ownership units. Dividends, i.e. payouts from profits, are the new form of interest rates.

But aren't stocks too risky?
